Peninsula Co-op is a locally owned retail co-operative based on southern Vancouver Island, operating gas/convenience locations and a single grocery store (Food Centre) on Keating Cross Road in Saanichton. Founded in 1977, it is owned by roughly 120,000 member-owners and is governed by a member-elected board. Like other Western Canadian retail co-operatives, it is one of the independent associations that collectively own Federated Co-operatives Limited (its wholesaler), but it is an autonomous co-operative rather than a subsidiary of FCL.
