Eataly is an Italian-founded chain of large Italian food halls combining grocery markets, counters and restaurants, founded by Oscar Farinetti in 2007. The Canadian operation is a joint venture in which the Weston family's Wittington Investments holds a share (reported at roughly half of the Toronto real-estate and retail project) alongside Eataly itself. Globally, UK private-equity firm Investindustrial acquired a majority stake in Eataly in 2022. [1][2]
