Amazon.com, Inc. is a publicly traded company (Nasdaq: AMZN) headquartered in Seattle, Washington. It is the ultimate parent of Whole Foods Market, which it acquired in 2017. Amazon announced the acquisition of Whole Foods Market on June 16, 2017 for $42 per share in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $13.7 billion (including net debt); the deal closed on August 28, 2017, after which Whole Foods Market became an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Amazon.
